post13: Volume boost in media player classic (KLM codec pack) (YFH)

I would suggest you use K-Lite Codec Pack for the best experience when it comes to watching videos. The advantage of using this codec pack is that it supplies almost all codecs available for video decoding, almost all the video formats. A more recent version is the Media Player Classic – Home Cinema [!nfo @ wiki] [Download] with many advanced features, people who has been using the previous version will get the points.

During installation:
Choose Lots of Stuff during installation..

Volume boost:
Now for the volume boost, follow these steps...
  1. for speaker config=2input channels à tick both front centers
  2. for speaker config=3input channels à tick all 3 front centers

NB: However, don’t increase the boost-bar, ’cause the sound cracks..

Here’s the statistics of frequently used players:

What is your favorite video player?
Selection
Votes
Media Player Classic 40%54,825
Windows Media Player 28%37,899
VLC Player 8%10,713
BS.Player 5%6,465
MPlayer 2%2,686
KMPlayer 8%11,374

post12: BSNL DataOne [auto schedule ON/OFF for WinXP users] (YFH)

BSNL provides dynamic IP address for DataOne users, which changes on disconnecting & reconnecting.. where xxx represnts the variable part of IP..
[ this property is very much useful when sites store your IP addresses, & limit your download options; e.g. rapidshare.com-uploaded files.. ]
  • if u're IP is 59.93.xxx.xxx, then u can use any versions of DQUF, but i recommend v 0.5.0.17
  • if u're IP is 117.xxx.xxx.xxx, then u have to use only DQUF v 0.7.0.0
(u can contact me at rupakkd@gmail.com for the installer
or else, Google it..)
``````````````````````````````````````````````
i'll tell you, what i do.. but people may opine differently.. for WinXP users ONLY
{ Summary of what i suggest for the auto-scheduled ON/OFF of computer for BSNL DataOne Home500/500C/500C+ users
------ night half ------
(a) auto wake-up from sleep/stand by mode by windows' task scheduler;
(b) auto connection of DataOne BB by DQUF
(c) scheduled running of uTorrent.exe at specific time
------ morning half ------
(d) auto disconnection of DataOne BB by DQUF
(e) auto shutdown by an external scheduler }
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

1. Install/Run DQUF > (Change DataOne Usage Plan) Home 500 > Options (tab> Admin URL (choose any> Run at Startup | Minimize to tray | enable connection scheduling > Refresh > (set times as per ur convenience) [i use 01:58:00; 02:12:00; 07:58:00; 08:05:00].
Having done this, u're ready for task2/task4, i.e. connection/discnnection by DQUF
------
2. Run > (type) "Tasks" > Add Scheduled Task > Browse (for uTorrent.exe in Program Files only..) > Daily > 2:00; Everyday > (enter password, if your user profile has one> Open Adv. Prop. when i click Finish > (go to settings tab) > (check) Wake the comp. to run this task
[all other settings that are set by default, not mentioned here, are to be left as it is..]
Having done this, u're ready for task1/task3, i.e. wake-up/run uTorrent.exe
N.B. please ensure that the "uTorrent" time is set before the reconnection time, cz DQUF can only work if comp is ON or in wake-up mode. alternatively, u can also create a separate task scheduler for DQUF, and wakeup comp thru it..
------
3. Use an external scheduler to turn off the comp at 7:59 AM. Allow "Force apps to close" etc settings as per needs.. I, myself use an app called PowerOff.
PowerOff: http://www.esnips.com/doc/473f4a54-d375-4857-aafe-429a6a4138b7/poweroff
Having done this, u're ready for the last task/task5, i.e. shutdown
------
4. test run for a single day.. i.e. remain awake and observe if all the scheduling are going as per ur settings
Having done this, u're ready for task1-5, i.e. a/b/c/d/e
------

now what u've to do..
>> turn on ur comp before 2AM
>> set it to standby/sleep mode
>> forget evrything else & have a nice sleep

post11: URL (YFH)

Uniform Resource Locator (URL) is a subset of the Uniform Resource Identifier (URI) that specifies where an identified resource is available and the mechanism for retrieving it. In popular usage and in many technical documents and verbal discussions it is often incorrectly used as a synonym for URI. In popular language, a URI is also referred to as a Web address.

URLs of some of the most useful, user-friendly web-sites are given here..

post2: hidden files disabled permanently (YFH)

ohh.. so, you hide your files on your comp. so that no one can view them:
(any window) > Tools > Folder Options > View (tab) >
  • (check) "Show hidden files/folders"
if you still can't view them.. try this option below the above one..
  • (uncheck) "Hide system files/folders (Recommended)"
-------------------------------
but what if some malwares hide them from you completely..
you proceed thru the afore-said methods.. but stuill can't..
--> the problem is caused due to amvo virus.
-------------------------------
the ALTERNATIVE is:
1. Search (F3) > More Advanced Options > (check) Search hidden File and folders)
2. SEARCH for *.* in the parent folder of the hidden files/folder.

-------------------------------
the SOLUTION is uploaded here..
2. (this a .VBS vbscript file) you just have to extract,
3. double-click the file & follow the instructions..
